Exercise has been a distant memory the past couple of weeks and eating right hasn’t always been a top priority but it’s significantly better than in the past so I’m patting myself on the back.
Work has been INCREDIBLY busy and I’m back to the 12 – 15 hour days from last year when the hospital was opening. That’s also the time that I gained 20lbs. Needless to say, that’s not a road I would like to travel down again.
I’m at work for 6:30 am and I haven’t been leaving until between 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm. And I have a 45 minute commute. Time has been tight and I’ve used that as an excuse BUT it’s not an excuse. Moving your body and getting the blood flowing need only take five minutes until you can back to your usual routine.
Without further ado, here are my Top 3 Tips for Staying on Track When You’re Cray Cray Busy
1 Just do it! Don’t give yourself an out for exercising. It’s not an option!
2. Find a quick and intense workout that you’ll enjoy and schedule them out for the week so you won’t have to think about it. Visit The Traveling WOD and I’ve started posting some options on my Health & Fitness Pinterest board. Of course you can always create your own 🙂
3. Get in your activity in the morning. If your day takes an unexpected turn, you already got your sweat on!
What are your tips for staying on track when time is tight?

Yup! Your 4 minute tabata is intense but fits in perfectly with my topic today. I pinned it and will be attempting it this week.

Working out at lunchtime is also an option when you have such a long day (hopefully you get some kind of a break in there!). Even a brisk walk, some body weight moves like pushups, squats, etc., can be helpful.

I need to try and do stuff in the morning before work and night class and all the added craziness hit, I just cannot make myself get up at 4:45 to do it after going to bed at 11:00. Any tips?

I feel you on that! To get my workout in, I have to be up at 4:00 a. I choose a high energy song for my alarm and when it goes off, I’m up! You can also try putting your alarm on the other side of the room so that you have to get out of bed to turn it off. I hope this helps!

Girl, I understand the long days. This week has been a monster to say the least! And why do ppl expect these things to be done at a holiday weekend. That is cray cray in itself. but I must do what I need to.
My tip – high intensity workout during lunch. i hit the gym and usually run.
speaking of… i wanted to lift some weights tonight… let me get on that. then zzzzz… 😉

I need to consider adding a lunch time rotation. It won’t likely be high intensity but I can walk. Hope you got your weights in!

My deal is to do it first thing in the morning. When you’re at the gym at 6:30 am, there really isn’t much else happening in life. Even if I only have time for 20 minutes of HIIT, at least something was done. 🙂

I was going to mention the 4 minute Tabata, but you’ve got it already. If you get an official lunch break, you can always walk the perimeter of the hospital (is that possible?) or stand instead of sitting when you’re on the phone at work. Dang, you have a tough work day.

I try to walk around the hospital twice at lunch and it’s a great time to decompress. Thanks for the suggestions 🙂
