#HAWMC Day 10 – Dear 16-year-old-me

Posted on April 10, 2012

Today’s Prompt: Write a letter to yourself at age 16. What would you tell yourself? What would you make your younger self aware of?

<I wish a had a picture to share with you. They’re all packed away in my parents’ basement.  .  . in Canada. You can trust that I was a cute 16 year old :)>

Dear 16 year old Kareen,

This isn’t a letter about what the future holds – I think you’ll be content. Instead, I hope this letter encourages you to embrace the present.

Be kind to the body you have. Stop worrying about your thighs touching and whether you’re too muscular. Have fun in Judo and be grateful for the strong fighting body you were given. In time, you’ll realize that you were never actually overweight.

Make an effort to nourish your body with only the freshest and most natural food you can find. This will help reduce the soon to come symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. You come out fine!

Be nicer to mom and dad. They love you so much and only want the best for you. Listen to their words of advice and trust their instincts because yours are still developing.

Enjoy time with family and friends thoroughly. Create rich and deep memories that will stand the miles between California and Ontario, Canada.

Trust in God. The love you’re developing for Him right now will guide you through. He is just, merciful, gracious and loving. He brought a wonderful man into your life to be your husband and has surrounded you with so many opportunities.

Love always,

– Kareen
